How to Succeed in Online Classes

Online courses can present a unique challenge to students. Following the CLASS learning method can help you assert yourself as a leader among your peers and demonstrate your dedication to your professors.

Collaborate with your classmates and respond with substantive material to their posts and questions. The learning forum is designed to allow you the opportunity to interact, learn, and progress in your studies. Collaboration is vital part of your learning.

Learn as much as you can from reading material, resources, and lectures. This material is there for your benefit and should be used in conjunction with your textbook.

Assess your workload. Understand that online learning takes a great deal of time, energy, and effort. Assess your personal schedule and professional commitments. Set aside time every day for checking into class, completing discussion questions, and working toward completion of your weekly assignments.

Surpass your minimum requirements. Each assignment, including discussion questions, are grading on timeliness, quality, and quantity. Make a conscious decision to exceed the minimum requirements and integrate personal experience, academic reference material, and technical details into your work.

Study! The best way to benefit from online learning is to study and apply what you've learned in everyday actions. Commit to studying on a daily basis and keeping abreast on current events and policies.

Using the CLASS method of study as a student will help to improve your standing. Teaching the CLASS method to students will prove the institution's and faculty's profound interest in the student' success.

In online learning it is important to keep a disciplined schedule and open dialogue with your personal support group. If you anticipate an increase in workload, discuss time constraints and academic commitments with your family, employer, and other key members of your life. Promoting and maintaining open communication will allow others to understand your position and dedication to higher learning. It will also give them a chance to prepare for your absence/downtime.

If, at any time, throughout the duration of the course you have questions about the subject matter, assignments, or reading contact the instructor immediately. Faculty members are there to help guide and answer questions you may present. Use all available resources and put your best foot forward! Online learning will continue to evolve and become more acceptable among reputable institutions and companies. As the world moves towards full adoption of technology in education, the CLASS methods will help students stay a step ahead of the curve.
